What is the difference between wirecut and stock bricks?

Wirecut bricks (also called extruded bricks) are made by pushing clay through a die in a long column and then cutting it into individual bricks using wires. They often have perforations, holes, sharp and regular edges, and uniform sizes. One example would be the Clayburn Civic Brick 65mm.

Stock bricks are often made using soft mud with higher water content and pressed or thrown into moulds that are lubricated with sand or water for easy removal. They are less regularly shaped with a softer, more characterful texture, subtle imperfections, and a more heritage or rustic look, such as FLB Handmade.

Are facing bricks load-bearing?

Yes, in many cases, facing bricks can be load-bearing, provided their technical properties, such as water absorption, compressive strength, durability, etc., are adequate and the structural design supports it.
