Heavy Bricks
Bricks with a heavy texture add bold aesthetic appeal to any building. With visual effects ranging from edgy, modern looks to charming retro styles, heavy bricks complement a wide variety of architectural designs. Contemporary architectural designs incorporate heavier brick textures in creative and innovative ways, allowing designers to create customised, visually striking surfaces.
At Brick Wholesale, we stock some of the finest heavy textured bricks from leading brick manufacturers.
What are Heavy Texture Bricks?
To produce heavy-textured bricks, naturally occurring clay is crushed and mixed with water and sand. Manufacturers may incorporate various additives into the clay mixture to achieve various desired outcomes, such as enhanced strength or colour variation. Brickworks use a range of techniques to create the heavy textured look. They may press textured rollers into the clay to form patterns or use additives to achieve a rough texture.
The bricks are then dried, fired, and cooled at specific temperatures. The final product is hard-wearing and dimensionally stable. Because of these properties, textured brick buildings can last for hundreds of years. Textured bricks are also recyclable and can be reused as raw material for new bricks.
Why Choose Heavy Bricks?
Bricks with heavy texture are ideal for residential and commercial architecture for numerous reasons, including:
- Depth and contrast -Heavy textures in bricks create varying visual effects in different light settings. They may cast shadows or appear brighter or duller as sunlight changes throughout the day.
- Durable and weather resistant – Heavy textured bricks are durable, even when used on exterior structures, and maintain their quality when exposed to the elements.
- Low maintenance – Heavy brick textures require minimal upkeep over the years. Regular cleaning with mild detergent and water, along with occasional repointing, is usually sufficient to maintain their good condition.
- Aesthetic versatility -Brickworks produce such diverse heavy textures that it’s almost impossible to find two random brands of bricks with perfectly matching patterns.
- Environmentally friendly -Heavy textured bricks are sustainable products made from naturally occurring, recyclable clay.
Where are Heavy Bricks Used?
Heavy bricks are used in applications such as:
- Exterior walls and facades – Their compressive strength and stability make them an excellent choice for exterior walls.
- Garden walls and landscaping – Their weather resistance and tangible beauty make them a natural choice for outdoor landscaping and garden features. However, heavy textured bricks are porous and absorb moisture; therefore, it is important to check the specifications of each brick to select the ideal one for landscaping.
- Feature walls – Distinctive textures and patterns make them an excellent choice for eye-catching feature walls.
- Renovation and restorations – Their unique visual appeal adds personality to renovated or restored structures.
