We stock a wide variety of Wienerberger clay bricks for various uses.

Which Wienerberger Bricks Should You Buy?

You can identify suitable Wienerberger bricks for your project based on several factors. These include:

  1. Dimensions
  2. Durability
  3. Water absorption
  4. Compressive strength
  5. Processing method
  6. Colour
  7. Texture

Dimensions — We stock a large number of Wienerberger bricks measuring 65mm (H) x 102.5mm (D) x 215mm (L), which is the most popular house brick size in the UK. We also have additional Wienerberger brick sizes, which you may consider for special architectural features that require varying sizes of bricks, including 73mm (H); 98mm, 100mm and 102mm (D); and 102.5mm and 208mm (L).

Durability — Most Wienerberger bricks in stock have an F1 or F2 durability rating. An F1 rating means the bricks are ideal for areas with moderate exposure to wet and frost conditions. Experts classify moderate exposure as anything between 33 and <56.5 L/M² of wind-driven rain per spell. You can use F1 bricks for:

  • Outdoor areas fully or partially shielded from the rain.
  • Indoor applications.

An F2 rating means you can use the brick in places with severe exposure to the elements. Severe exposure happens when areas receive 56.5 to <100 L/M² of wind-driven rain per spell. F2 Wienerberger bricks offer protection on surfaces:

  • Where rain is likely to fall directly
  • Likely to come into contact with water run-off
  • Likely to undergo saturation and freezing bouts

Water absorption — Among Wienerberger bricks in stock, the absorption rate ranges from 7%–22%. Engineering bricks have the lowest absorption rates at 4.5% for Class A bricks and <7% for Class B. These low absorption rates give the highest protection against moisture damage. The absorption rate is higher in facing bricks, which you can safely use above the ground where there’s minimal water saturation risk.

Compressive strength — Compressive strength measures a brick’s ability to withstand compressive load. Wienerberger engineering bricks have a high compressive strength, which means they can withstand heavy compressive loads and will not crash easily. You can use them for structures where a high load-carrying capacity is crucial.

Processing method — Wienerberger uses different brick manufacturing processes, which yield distinctly unique bricks.  Choose from wirecut, extruded, stock, and waterstruck bricks.

Colour — Wienerberger effectively uses colour to differentiate bricks, providing a variety of colour choices for all brick types. Popular choices in this category are red, burgundy, brown, orange, white, grey, buff, yellow, black, green, and blue. Such a broad colour range makes it easy to customise your building.

Texture — Choose from three main textures: light, heavy, and smooth. Each has its own texture variations, depending on how the brick is processed. Smooth and light textures will give your brickwork a neat, contemporary look. Choose heavy textures for a rustic, handcrafted look and feel.
