Most of the bricks we offer are available in the most commonly used metric size which measures around 65mm x 102mm x 215mm. We also offer a range of imperial size bricks varying between 68mm-75mm. When choosing the right brick for your project whether it is large or small it is necessary to consider the bricks’ properties, such as the below.

Durability or frost resistance – the most commonly available bricks are rated either F1 or F2. The F2 are classed as frost resistant bricks. They can be used in all normal building situations and degrees of exposure. The F1 are moderately frost resistant bricks that are also durable except where they may remain saturated and are subjected to repeated freezing and thawing. Generally, they can be used between DPC and eaves although caution should be exercised on sites in elevated, exposed locations. F0 – not frost resistant and should not be used externally.

Water absorption – measured in %. It usually ranges between 4 and 28%. Engineering brick water absorption usually ranges between 4% and 7% whereas facing bricks measure up to around 28%. Absorption – usually differs from one product to another. Water absorption
specifies the quantity of water a brick can normally absorb as a percentage of its weight. The regular bricks used externally should not have an absorption percentage higher than 25%.

Compressive strength – represent one of the essential elements of brick measured as N/mm2. For example, it is important for load-bearing walls and for a footpath, if the customer has chosen a masonry brick for this specific purpose.

Active Soluble Salts Content rating, measured either as S1 or S2. The S2 category means low salt content, it is suitable for most uses. The S1 category is not suitable for foundations or retaining walls.
